How to Identify an

Aphid

Aphids are small (1/8 inch long), green, and have a wingspan of about 1/4 inch. They are most easily identified by their small size and their green color.

Where do they come from?

Aphids are very common in the United States and Canada, and all over the rest of the world. They are most often found near plants or other sources of food, and with groups of other leaf eating bugs. Aphids can also be brought into your home on food or garbage.

How to keep them out

The best way to get rid of aphids is to eliminate their food sources by thoroughly cleaning your kitchen and bathroom. You can also use commercial fly traps or bait. If you have a severe infestation, you may need to call a professional exterminator.

Where do they live?

Aphids are easily managed by an appropriately labeled insecticide. Focus should be on plan stems, undersides of leaves, and anywhere the aphids are seen. Aphids may also be controlled naturally by purchasing live lady bugs and releasing them into your yard.
